Coming up with a best software or a website, depends not on the company profile developing a given applications but it is made successful by good relations between the client and the company. This is what is called requirements gathering analysis and this ease the developers work in implementation process. Off-shelf applications which have already been customized does not always bring the best results in meeting customers needs.
My advise to every individual or a company is to go for home design and implemented applications and this includes banking systems, hospital, payroll, saccos, school management, hotel mis and any other relevant applications.
The reason why African developers do not go far in development world is lack of motivation, like in Kenyan Market companies or organizations like asking for a complete product (demo) and this makes most young developers to commit their small resources doing a dummy applications which later they are being rejected by the so called interested clients and this firms go for international market where they spend millions to buy a product, which can be produce cheaply by the local market developers.
According to current sample report Kenya for example in Africa have very good software developers, but currently they are being employed by firms run by so called foreigners who exploit our young developers and they end up being discouraged and turns to only support professionalism like Cisco or mcse. This is due to poor motivation in terms of payment, and they have no other options, do or die policy.
Why should we adopt our own home made software products? is a question which should be addressed with a lot of seriousness, we look at how are we going to promote our local market developers and how do we build trust on them.
